It works !I received this brilliant bowl today & I'm really excited. I bought it for two reasons. 1 - so I wouldn't have to stop countless times (especially on a hot summer day) on a 5-6 hours trip to give my dog something to drink. And 2 - I have a flat-coated retriever and they're one of the breeds who have a higher risk of getting bloat. This bowl prevents him from gulping water. And it also has an extra plus which I didn't think about until I saw him use it : one of his favorite activities has always been the "Water Bowl Diving". He just loves to put his nose under water and blow bubbles ==> wet dog, wet floor and happy, wet flat-kisses for me when I'm cleaning up... Cute, but you get kinda tired of it when it happens several times a day, lol. This bowl will finally put a stop to that mess :-)I have to be honest and say I haven't tried it in a car yet. (The starter is dead, so I'll have to get a new one before I can take the bowl on a test-drive.) BUT I have tested it "manually". I filled it about 3/4 full with water and shook it up and down and sideways... nothing happened ! I had to shake it VERY hard before I managed to spill a couple of tiny drops and since I'm not planning on going off-roading or anything, I'm absolutely certain my car will stay completely dry when I use the bowl. Bumps on the road or a sharp turn will NOT cause any spilling. My dog was comfortable with it right away. A bit curious and puzzled at first, but after a few seconds of examination he's been drinking from it like he's had it for years. The quality seems good and it's easy to clean. You have to pull the top pretty hard to get it off, so there's no way it may fall off if the dog bumps into the bowl or tries to lift it up with the teeth (mine did before he realized it was for drinking, not a new toy...) So unless your dog manages to tip it over - won't happen if you use the Velcro - or accidentally puts a paw in it, you will have a dry home/car with this bowl. I'm very pleased with it and will recommend it to my friends PERFECT!Perfect for the road. Easy to disassemble and manage. Really, there is no spills. I put the bowl in the back of my truck with the dog and away we go camping.Make one in stainless steelI got this at my local feed store after I saw it in a video. My dog has long facial fur so he drips enough that we don't need any splashing. I wouldn't say this bowl is "no-spill" but I would call it "splash-limiting" or "reduced-splash." It is impressive how little or rather how slowly it spills even when you turn it totally upside down.I bought this for and intend to primarily use it in the kitchen to reduce water on the floor. My dog can easily go for 8 hours without water, especially when he's just sitting in the crate, so for travel I would water him when we stop. He's going to have to urinate anyway. I keep traveling water in a bottle or get it from the destination. I would use a stainless bowl because this one will get UV damage and broken up in the back of the truck. My main suggestion for improvement would be to make this bowl in stainless steel, and with a larger reservoir capacity. It could probably be made with stamped metal parts without any machining or welding. If it was metal, I would buy a couple more for the backyard and the back of the truck. Road Refresher works great!!Use this in the house almost 100% has stoped our dog from drulling on the floor. Works great!! |
